Welcome Message

On behalf of the Local Organising Committee, I would like to welcome you to Singapore in January 7–9, 2014 for the 7th International Symposium on Environmental Hydraulics.

Many of you can recall the exciting beginning of the Symposium series in Hong Kong, the following Symposiums in Arizona, and also the past Symposium in Greece. These memorable meetings had provided great opportunities for the community to get together for fellowship, exchange on the latest research, and explore the future ahead. We are proud to have the opportunity to do so in 2014 in our garden city of Singapore.

Water is essential to our existence. At present, surface and coastal waters in major cities around the world are being subjected to escalating stresses due to population and industrial growth, rapid urbanisation, and climate changes. At the same time, innovative ideas are thriving to integrate the water flows in our living environment to improve the life quality. For both, environmental hydraulic considerations are of utmost importance. I have no doubt that the exchange of ideas in the symposium on the way forward will be much enriched with your presence.

Look forward to seeing you soon!!

Best wishes,

A/Prof Adrian Wing-Keung LAW
Chairman of Local Organising Committee
